Match Report

Another below par performance from Salters against Abbey at Easthouses.

Abbey took the lead in the first half and were the better team for the first 20 minutes.  Salters battled back and played some decent football. Richard Murray missed when clean through on the goalkeeper, Paul Milligan flashed a header just wide and the Abbey goalkeeper produced a top class save to deny Mikey Thomson’s headed effort. Salters eventually equalised after a pass from Paul Milligan put Richard Murray through and Richard shot low and hard into the far corner, it was an excellent finish.  Abbey also had a few chances and could have scored more. Half time 1-1

The second half was poor from Salters. We failed to pass the ball well, didn’t close down the opposition and didn’t create many clear cut chances. Abbey scored two good goals to go 3-1 up and Salters could not complain about the score. Salters did manage to pull one back when Paul Nelson raced down the left hand side and fired a shot low into the far corner. But in truth we never looked like getting an equaliser. It was frustrating for all involved with Salters as we knew how good we can be but a real lack of confidence is starting to show.

A lot of hard work is needed if Salters are to avoid slipping further down the league. It’s a hard task to climb back up the table but we must show the belief we can do it, starting on Sunday.
