| Match Report | Salters lost for the second game in a row against Premier League Champions Redhall star on a brick hard frozen pitch at Drumbrae. Despite losing Salters battled away well and were unlucky to lose. Salters were still missing Michael Jones in the centre of the midfield and Richard Murray came in for his first start of the season after recovering from a hernia operation. Blair Mathewson returned at right wing and Paul Milligan returned at centre forward. Salters were the better team for the first 25 minutes and hit the post early on through Paul Milligan. Salters did get in front soon after, a Paul Nelson effort was saved by the keeper and Paul Milligan poked home the rebound. Redhall came back into the match and were starting to cause real problems for the Salters back four. In a 15 minute spell just before half time Redhall effectively won the game, scoring three goals and threatening to add more. All three goals were disappointing goals to loose, however at half time Redhall were 3-1 ahead. Salters got off to the worst possible start to the second half; a 50/50 challenge on the edge of the box saw the ball fly past John Paget in goals to put Redhall 4-1 up. It was a freak goal and really hard on Salters. Despite this we battled away and got back in the match, an excellent delivery from David Jamieson was volleyed home at the near post by Steven Illingworth. Salters had several more chances, Paul Milligan shooting wide and the Redhall keeper produced a magnificent save to deny Paul Nelson. Right back Dani Muir was also very unlucky to see a great headed effort hit the bar. Redhall always looked dangerous going forward, however that was the end of the scoring and Redhall won the game 4-2. Salters performed well for most of this match and were just missing a bit of luck. A 15 minute spell at the end of the first half cost us dearly and won Redhall the match. |
